Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) is one of the spinal injuries that are somewhat common in dogs. A dog that suffers from this disease, one or two discs between the vertebrae of its spine are separated or have a hernia or inflammation. In this case, pressure is applied to the spinal cord, which causes pain and eventually the dog may become paralyzed. In many cases, impairment or complete inability to walk (especially in the hind legs) has been reported. These symptoms may appear gradually or suddenly. In some cases, IVDD will improve with rest and care, but in severe cases, surgery may be required. Vertebral fractures occur less often than IVDD in dogs and are usually associated with acute trauma. In some cases, spinal fractures must be treated with surgery.
Oral injuries in dogs
These injuries occur when the dog is eating or chewing something. Bones and horns are among the things that damage teeth, gums, tongue and other soft tissues. The bone gets stuck between the dog's lower jaw and canine teeth and causes injury and discomfort in the dog. When dogs fight and fight, they may bite each other's faces, resulting in sores in the dog's mouth. Superficial wounds in the mouth such as scratches or cuts are treated with rest. However, larger wounds and tears in the mouth usually require surgery.
